    You will need to make sure of the following

  • Puerto Rico documents were issued by one of the following:
  • Document should be signed and stamped by a local notary public if it’s non-recordable or certified by the public official (the county/court clerk or registrar) if it’s recordable. Then the Apostille is processed by the Puerto Rico Office.
  • Birth, marriage, and death certificates.
  • Transfer of corpses, birds, animals, and medicines.
  • Credit transcripts.
  • Diplomas.
  • Credits Transcript.
  • Criminal Records Certifications.
  • Power of Attorneys.
  • Deeds.

    Reminders:

  • In order to be able to apostille a document in Puerto Rico, it needs to be issued no more than 6 months before submission date. You can apostille: birth, marriage, divorce and death certificates, and articles of incorporation, business bylaws, and powers of attorney.

Scanned Photocopy of Original Document

    You will need to make sure of the following:

  • Appropriate signature is NOT provided.
  • Original document is damaged.
  • Original document was issued over 10 years ago.
  • Destination country ACCEPTS apostilles of the scanned photocopy of the original document; most countries do accept an apostille of the scanned photocopy.
  • You need the apostille within 24 hours.
  • Reminders:

  • Because the notary and the apostille are required to be issued from the same state, the scanned photocopy of the original document that you provide will be notarized and apostilled in New York.
  • The original document or certificate must be original. In the case of public deeds, you must present the certified copy duly issued by the notary public with the corresponding stamps cancelled.
