    You will need to make sure of the following

  • The Oklahoma Secretary of State located in Oklahoma City apostilles public and private documents if the following applies:
  • Oklahoma documents were issued by one of the following:
  • Attached to an original notarized document, or a certified copy of a recordable document issued by an Oklahoma statewide officer.
  • Documents may include the following: Oklahoma birth certificate, marriage license, divorce decree, background check, Power of Attorney, survivor certificate, school transcript, and adoption document.

    Reminders:

  • Any marriage license, divorce decree, and any court certified document, must be dated within the past year.
  • Documents with Peter M. Carucci, Director of Vital Records signature are valid for an apostille.
  • Documents submitted via mail must include a cover letter specifying the country requiring the document, a valid telephone number, or email address (should we need to contact you regarding the items submitted), and the mailing address for return. The pre-drafted cover page (found in Frequently Asked Questions) may be used in lieu of a cover letter.

Scanned Photocopy of Original Document

    You will need to make sure of the following:

  • Appropriate signature is NOT provided.
  • Original document is damaged.
  • Original document was issued over 10 years ago.
  • Destination country ACCEPTS apostilles of the scanned photocopy of the original document; most countries do accept an apostille of the scanned photocopy.
  • You need the apostille within 24 hours.
  • Reminders:

  • For the five boroughs of Manhattan, Queens, Bronx, Brooklyn and Staten Island:
  • Because the notary and the apostille are required to be issued from the same state, the scanned photocopy of the original document that you provide will be notarized and apostilled in New York City. Photocopies of any of these documents are acceptable for authentication but only if properly notarized as a true and accurate copy (with the exception of birth and death certificates). This requires a signer to make a statement that the document is a true and accurate copy and then a notary public must notarize his or her signature.
